A Little Book of Piano Lessons

There were a few things I wanted to say to my existing students, parents, and to prospective students/parents - practice expectations, how to sit at the piano, group lessons and other topics, that never seem to get discussed, such as quitting lessons.

"Why would you want to tell students how to quit?" asked one teacher. It's not that I want to encourage my students to quit, but in reality, all of them do at some point or other, whether after 10 weeks, 10 months, or 10 years! I knew that some of my former students had found it difficult to know when and how to stop.

So I started writing a short document to communicate all of this. I shared an early draft with a group of piano teachers - they liked it and provided even more useful ideas and friendly criticism, which inspired me more...

So now, my 'short document' has evolved into an 11-page handbook. As a self-professed, life-long 'non-drawer', I took the plunge and even created my own illustrations. I figured maybe they'd help...

Now (I think!) I'm finished. The document is available to download as a free pdf here but you can also view it below. I hope you like it. Please leave a comment if you have one!
